# TikTok Video Ad Creative Specs Guide

## In-Feed Video (Auction)

- **Aspect ratio:** 9:16 recommended (1:1 and 16:9 supported with letterboxing)
- **Resolution:** Minimum by ratio — 9:16 ≥ 540×960, 1:1 ≥ 640×640, 16:9 ≥ 960×540; 1080×1920 recommended for 9:16
- **File types:** MP4, MOV, MPEG, 3GP, AVI
- **Max file size:** 500 MB
- **Duration:** Up to 10 minutes (9–15 seconds recommended for DR)
- **Bitrate:** Minimum 516 kbps
- **Codecs:** H.264/H.265 video, AAC audio

- Boosts an existing organic post with preserved engagement and creator identity
- Inherits the organic post — no ad-level restriction on aspect ratio, resolution, file type, duration, bitrate, or file size
- Creator authorization required for third-party posts

## Safe Zones

Keep hooks, logos, and CTAs inside TikTok safe zones — download overlay templates from Ads Manager. Bottom ~28% and right ~15% are high-risk UI overlap areas on 9:16 in-feed.

## Premium Placements

- **TopView:** 9:16, 5–60 seconds, app-open placement
- **Brand Takeover:** 9:16, 3–5 seconds, non-skippable
